Bringing Life to Seven Floors: CBRE Spec Suite Greenery Install

Servicing clients in industries from healthcare to agribusiness, life sciences and the public sector, CBRE wanted their workplace to not only mirror their professional reputation but also exude warmth and openness to create a space where clients can feel welcome, reassured and confident.
Indoor Plant Solutions has partnered with CBRE for over a decade, delivering long-term indoor plant solutions across more than 40 sites nationally. These include office tenancies, refurbishment projects and display suites, all designed to present a polished and professional environment that reflects the high standards of CBRE’s commercial property portfolio.
For this project, CBRE engaged with the team at Indoor Plant Solutions to complete a high-impact greenery installation across seven refurbished floors in one of their key buildings. Each floor has been fitted out as a spec suite, fully styled and ready for lease, with the goal of attracting premium tenants. They wanted the spaces to make an immediate and lasting impression, with greenery as an important design layer to help achieve that.
Any added greenery would need to complement the strong timber accents and architectural finishes featured throughout the interior design. The challenge was installing a large number of plants across multiple floors while coordinating with other trades, meeting all safety requirements and maintaining the quality and consistency expected from a CBRE-managed property.
Our Solution
Our team completed the installation over four days and remained on schedule. This resulted from detailed planning in the months leading up to the install, including site walkthroughs, product selection and access coordination. Strong communication between Indoor Plant Solutions and the CBRE team ensured that expectations were clear and all preparations were in place.
Our team followed strict safety protocols, wearing the required PPE including hi-vis clothing, hard hats and steel-capped boots. With trades still active on site, flexibility was essential. During fire testing, an unplanned power outage occurred, leaving one of our team members temporarily stuck between floors. Despite this, they remained calm and rejoined the team once the issue was resolved, highlighting our team’s professionalism and ability to adapt in real time.
Given the scale of the project, careful logistics were essential. With over 1,000 plants and a significant number of large, heavy pots, the team planned deliveries in stages to avoid congestion and to protect the refurbished interiors. The installation was sequenced floor by floor to ensure efficiency and maintain the visual consistency of the final presentation.
The plant selection was carefully curated to balance visual appeal with performance in indoor environments. Species included Ficus lyrata, Ficus bambino, Rhapis palms, Strelitzia nicolai, Kentia palms, Ficus burgundy, Ficus elastica ‘Tineke’, Zanzibar Gem, a range of Aglaonema varieties, Pothos, Dracaena ‘Happy Plant’ and Spathiphyllum. Together, these varieties introduced a sense of greenery, structure and softness that complemented the design of the suites.
Indoor Plant Solutions supplied various sizes of white matte U-Pots and desktop pots. The lobby was also decorated with custom floor pots in a palette of rust and white terracotta pots, making it an eye-catching feature in the Mez space.
These were paired with client-owned joinery planters, tambour units and timber wall boxes. The result was a consistent and cohesive design language across all seven floors. To complete the presentation, pine bark nuggets and moss toppings were applied throughout the joinery and planters, giving the plant displays a refined, well-maintained appearance.
For CBRE, the result was more than a visual upgrade. The greenery helped to soften the built environment, enhance the warmth of the architectural finishes, and elevate the overall atmosphere of each suite. These fully styled, plant-filled floors now present as high-end, tenant-ready spaces that support CBRE’s goal of positioning the building competitively in the commercial leasing market.
What began as a simple brief quickly became something more meaningful. For CBRE, the transformation wasn’t just about adding greenery, it was about reshaping the atmosphere of the entire workplace. Flourishing plants softened the built environment, bringing warmth to the architectural finishes and creating more inviting and uplifting suites.
