Judo Bank

A Full Workplace Greenery Transformation

Background & Challenge

This project began after one of our salesmen introduced our services to Judo Bank’s Melbourne office. At the time, another provider was maintaining the indoor plants and on paper there was little indication that the existing setup wasn’t performing as it should.

Instead of just sending over a quote, Indoor Plant Solutions offered a free site consultation to assess the existing greenery and identify opportunities for improvement. During the walkthrough with the client’s senior leadership, it became clear that the plant presentation, health and overall maintenance standard were not meeting expectations. It also opened up a bigger conversation about design, function and long-term value.

Once we were appointed, the Melbourne team faced several logistical challenges before work could begin. The previous installation had not been removed cleanly, leaving large amounts of decorative mulch throughout the planters. As the new design incorporated preserved moss finishes, every planter required extensive cleaning and preparation before installation.

Building access also proved challenging. The loading dock couldn’t fit our vehicle, so every plant, planter and bag of material had to be manually transported from street level through numerous secured access points before reaching the goods lift. The installation extended across three levels, with restricted security access throughout the day, requiring careful planning and coordination from start to finish.

Despite these challenges, the Melbourne team completed the entire project within a single day, working more than 12 hours to ensure the client’s workplace was fully transformed without disrupting business operations.

Our Solution

Indoor Plant Solutions developed a tailored planting solution that refreshed the workplace across Levels 25, 26 and 27 while making use of existing joinery and client-owned planters wherever possible.

During the initial consultation, our Operations Manager identified an opportunity to elevate the design beyond the original brief. A textured ceiling feature above the staircase closely resembled preserved moss, inspiring the addition of a custom moss installation beneath the staircase to visually connect the ceiling, surrounding greenery and the Judo Bank branding.

Rather than extending additional months of indoor plant hire during negotiations, we included this bespoke moss feature as a value addition, creating a unique design element that became a standout feature of the project.

The consultation also identified improvements to the existing trailing plant installation. By redesigning the way the plants interacted with the existing cable system, we created a cleaner, more intentional presentation that aligned with the client’s vision and complemented the surrounding architecture and space.

Throughout the installation, the team remained focused on communication, collaboration and problem solving. Every challenge was approached with the same philosophy:

"There are no problems, only solutions."

Benefits

The completed installation transformed three levels of Judo Bank’s Melbourne office into a healthier, more welcoming and visually cohesive environment.

Beyond delivering a refreshed aesthetic, the project established a trusted long-term partnership between Judo Bank and Indoor Plant Solutions. Through our consultative approach, attention to detail and commitment to delivering above the agreed scope, Indoor Plant Solutions demonstrated the value of proactive horticultural expertise rather than simply maintaining plants.

Today, the workplace benefits from professionally designed and maintained greenery that enhances presentation, supports employee wellbeing and creates a premium environment for both staff and visitors.

The client was thrilled with the outcome, recognising not only the quality of the installation but the collaborative approach taken throughout the project.

Featured Products & Focus

The Level 27 design introduced greenery throughout the kitchen, lobby and workspaces using Kentia Palms, Monstera deliciosa, Spathiphyllum ‘Sensation’, Ficus elastica ‘Burgundy’, Dracaena ‘Golden Heart’ and Zanzibar Gems. We paired the client’s existing joinery and planters with clusters of IPS Black Cylinder planters to create a cohesive look across the floor.

Level 26 focused on the entrance, kitchen, workspaces and back-of-house areas. We used a combination of Zanzibar Gems, Kentia Palms, Pothos, Spathiphyllum ‘Sensation’, Ficus elastica ‘Burgundy’ and Happy Plants to create a welcoming, contemporary environment. The greenery was integrated into custom joinery, circular table joinery, client-owned tambour units and IPS Tulip desktop and Black Cylinder planters.

Level 25 featured planting throughout the lobby, kitchen, workspaces and under-stair area. It incorporated Calathea makoyana, Monstera deliciosa, Ficus benjamina ‘Bambino’, Heartleaf Philodendron, Pothos Totems, Zanzibar Gems and Spathiphyllum. Existing joinery was enhanced with a custom preserved moss feature beneath the staircase, creating a standout focal point inspired by the building’s architectural finishes.
